Has Globe Tattoo WiMax plan 999 increased their speed plan?

Hmmmm? Just today, a globe agent or customer representative called me on my mobile phone.. telling me something about my account and confirming something... aaaand I just said "yes".... then the call ended as fast as approximately 1 minute...

Made me ask, "what did she say?"

Oh yesssss... I did not clearly understand the statement as it was really in English accent and didn't even ask me if I understood what she said nor waited for any questions or inquiry... but anyway... As far as I know and my understanding I subscribed to a plan 999 for the Globe WiMax Broadband having a speed of 1Mbps... and the installer said it's unlimited data... When I asked them about the FUP (like that of PLDT and SmartBro).. they were unsure of what that was... but they said there is a max of 7GB data cap per day and when we reach that cap, the net will slow down in (i think) 20%... not sure though.. and have no details or evidences to prove such claims... The agents of whom I applied simply stated these things while they were installing the Globe  WiMax last August 2013...

So far Globe Tattoo WiMax has been stable for me starting from the said date... since I was having problems in my SmartBro ... and their services has been really disappointing...

Though I had to somewhat reboot or put "off" and "on" the modem or their device whenever my net gets slow... afterwards, it's OK! AND as what I was talking about... that of what I know is that their plan 999 is up to 1 MBPS only....  I checked my speed AND now its up to 2 MBPS... I'm not really sure if this was what the lady was talking about.. I just hope they increased my internet speed but the same bill cost, then that would be VERY GOOD! =)

but I haven't really confirmed this.. I can't get a confirmation in the internet on this matter... I hope when I get to see my next bill though it will be of the same amount of bill... hopefully, then I would really be a very happy customer of Globe WiMax... =)

How to speed up uploading pictures in Facebook or photo uploading site?

Well, here's just a simple tip in speeding up uploading pictures in facebook or in any photo uploading site, USE a photo reducer / converter...

I use this program and it's free...
http://download.cnet.com/Free-Image-Converter/3000-2056_4-10632880.html
It just requires for you to set the right settings that will reduce your picture files... after then you could upload it in facebook... greatly saves time in uploading rather than uploading the whole pictures ranging even up to 100 plus photos.

I usually use the advanced button in converting the pictures so I can also separate or designate where the reduced photos will be and not to overwrite the original ones.

Of course if you are a photographer which gives much importance in details, this is not for you... =)

My First Time applying for Passport in VFA - Baguio

My experience in applying for a Passport in Baguio is very unforgettable.... For the reason that I have been going in and out for many times... maybe 3-4 times.... But I probably wouldn't blame everything on the system or procedures of VFA... But maybe they could have a better system for that matter.

Let me first tell my story.. I and my father, who just turned senior citizen, tried to apply for passport. I have searched requirements of application in the internet and therefore made ready for the requirements. The process in VFA Baguio, one must first take a number as a means of having an appointment. The problem with this.. it takes a long period of time to wait before you get to go in (e.g early in the morning you get a number which is scheduled in the afternoon.) This may be forgiveable... anyway, since my father is a senior citizen, he is given a priority lane. Therefore I on the other hand had to wait for my given schedule. When my father went in: first process, someone checks the requirements of my father if it's complete. My father was asked to get a voter's certificate in the Comelec. With this reason, my father have to go back later on (I believe this problem would be reduced if their details of requirement is consistent in the internet and on the branches.)

When we came back in the afternoon, we then went in together as it was my schedule and he had the privilege as a priority. But when, I gave my requirements, they checked my name and found out I was enlisted as a DOST Scholar (Now this is another problem I should have dealt with long time ago.. maybe 10-15 years ago). I wasn't supposed to be a DOST scholar since I have not pursued my scholarship and with so many tedious process & requirements of DOST last 15 years, it wasn't very encouraging. I thought it was fixed before having not been reported to the DOST office, but alas!!! I was still enlisted and wasn't cleared of my name. Due to this problem I had to clear my name which again... had so many process and "etche bureche" things... frustrating indeed!!!

My father on the other hand, was able to pass the first process... but when he went on the next stage of processing, another person checks his documents if it was valid, etc... Alas! my Father's Marriage Certificate from the NSO had a problem, my grand father's name wasn't clear on the certificate of NSO (This I believe again could be fixed if at first process, they would have already checked it... secondly, it gives me NSO a very bad rating, being a required document in many transactions "how could it stand if details on the NSO documents are unclear?"). So they asked if there are other documents to make clear or support my father's document. My father had to take his old birth certificate with a clear name of his father, my grandfather. So he had to go back home again... Whereas I had to be busy clearing my name in DOST...

After my father took his birth certificate, he and my mother went back... and so all was good and was scheduled to get his passport after few weeks.

I on the other hand had to wait for 2 weeks to clear my name. By the way, I would advice to those who would apply for the first time to make sure of their requirements are complete... It would have also helped if the security guards know or understand the process of applying and the requirements.. or there should really be a clear instruction of requirements to take and what should be noted for on these requirements to give first time applicants not a very tedious process.

So after clearing my name, I had to go back and get a number again for appointment in the morning which I was scheduled in the afternoon. Then coming back in the afternoon, alas! my name is cleared then was passed on the next processing... Alas!!! My problem now is my NSO Birth Certificate... my father's name is unclear or can't be read clearly.... Argh!!! I was advised to get my certified true copy of BC at the Local Civil Registrar. I had one at home, but it was old... so I thought I could use it... therefore I had to postpone my schedule on the next day since time was not on my side.... When I went back the other day... I was then advised to get a new one.... So I had to go to the Local Civil Registrar... then again had to wait... The people there seem to be even have no plans in giving me ASAP... but still asked me if I wanted to wait... anyway, there were not much people around. (Here I'm so disappointed with government systems and procedures, how can asking for documents and others be so tedious and troublesome... ONLY IN THE PHILIPPINES? but I wish these things would change....)

The good thing, I was able to get my Certified True Copy of BC about 4-5pm..  and I was allowed to directly go to the one who was processing my paper in the DFA... and to find out... I had supposed to be having a problem with my NSO Birth Certificate not being consistent on the record number with the Local Civil Registrar... ouch! Good thing, the Registrar gave a certificate on the change made... So still was able to go in and was scheduled to get a passport. Whew!

That's for my Application for Passport... but still I had to wait again for my NSO Birth Certificate to be amended or changed after 2-3 months, as I had to gave a copy of what the Registrar gave..

Well, that's my unforgettable experience on applying my passport for the first time!!!! Hope this gives a warning to new applicants for passport and probably give a glimpse of how tedious securing documents from government offices.....

Comments on Globe Wimax as of September 2013

Well, Globe WiMax seem to be fairly well.... though I think, it's still at an early stage to judge... it's my second month now.... and no trouble yet.... I have applied for the Globe Wimax's 1 Mbps plan since in our location, DSL or lined-internet is not possible (for now, don't know when it would be possible)... PLDT nor Globe DSL can't reach our place.

One problem I've encountered though is with regarding to my hosting or maintenance of my own website. I develop or program my website so I really need to be connected with the internet. The thing is, Globe's connection seem to be having problem with godaddy's webhosting. At times, I am not able to connect nor access my own website, particularly those of that under godaddy's. Godaddy seem to have a list of banned IP addresses or blocked IP addresses and if those IP addresses seem to have issues and suspected to be doing illegal activities on their website, these IP addresses will be blocked. And if my understanding is right, Globe's IP addresses are usually shared among their customers. So even if you are not doing something illegal or suspicious activity and other accounts maybe doing something wrong you will be banned from accessing the particular sites. Well, it's a very complicated hard to understand.... but that's my own understanding.... in short, if you are a web developer, Globe's WiMax maybe needed to be thought of very carefully.

But, nevertheless, how I handle it still? I have some ways that I do to deal with this problem (that is when I can't access my own website). one thing I do is by simply re-plug off and wait for 10-20 seconds and plug-in the WiMax modem. If that doesn't work.... I also do "rebooting" the WiMax modem.... How to do this? you'll have to google (or search) how to go in or access the WiMax Modem.... it will be a little bloody looking for it as this will depend on what model the WiMax is.... usually Globe doesn't want their customers to do this.. as what I know (not sure though).... because customers might make some wrong configurations etc... So far, I only reboot the Globe Wimax when I encounter problem on accessing my website.... and it works.... but you also have to be patient... there was I time I thought, by rebooting, I can no longer access the net... nevertheless I just simply put it off then on again.... and wait.... alas... it's connected again... =D

Well that's just my early experience on the Globe if this goes on well... I'll probably recommend Globe WiMax over Smart MyBro even if Smartbro gives twice speed than Globe WiMax.... the problem with Smartbro is with their service.... and consistency of the speed of their internet.... With regards to the so called "Fair Use Policy".... I think Globe WiMax doesn't have that limit as compared to Smartbro's FUP.... But as I have said it's still early to judge....  so far? Globe WiMax is OK.... and for Smartbro? it's frustrating when they can not fulfill the promise given... and when you have to call them every after 2 months....

BPI Online Trading

Recently I'm curious and want to try out the BPI Online Trading... I was able to try COL Financial (formerly CitisecOnline) along with my brother but that was history and that was just for a brief period... I'm not an expert though, just a beginner and try my chances in the BPI Online Trading.. I tried to apply through their online website https://www.bpitrade.com and one of the requirement is that, you have to have an account on their bank in order for you to fund your account in the BPI Trade.

At some point applying with them is easy, though you will have to visit their branches for other matters. Just following their instructions was great and not much hassle. Their employees are friendly and accommodating, well that's my experience on their branch here in Baguio City... Not sure with others though. After application, you will have to sign forms and they will have to send it to Manila that of those who are really in charge of the BPI Trading. And after approval, an email will be sent to you saying your application is now approved, and you will be given a BPISEC Account Code. At this point, I got confused on their procedure. I had to enroll my BPI Trade account on my BPI express online, which in their email, I found none my account number. I thought it was the BPISEC Account Code but alas, I couldn't enroll it.... So I thought, maybe my account number on my BPI itself. Tried it, but after waiting for 3 days, it didn't work.... so I had to go to their branch again where I found out... I really have to call them or go to their branch to know my account on BPI Trade... Well... perhaps it would have been best if they have included that clearly on their email. Nevertheless, it's a good measure of security. Just plainly a confusing instruction though.

Well... haven't tried trading yet but figured just want to share this, if someone likes to try BPI trade and maybe bump into the problem I had... Cheers! =D

troubleshooting Smartbro Canopy 2013

Greetings!

Just want to write this as one of reasons why at times Smartbro Canopy slows down....
Well this is just one and as of now, other reasons might be the current issue of the "Fair Use Policy". But what I will share would be another reason why your Smartbro Canopy might be still slow even when calling their Call Centers for days and nothing is happening....

Well, here's my case and it's actually the second time around it happened... The first was a long time ago.. perhaps two years before... and it happened again now, which never occurred to me at first....

I called the *1888 for days asking why still my net is slow at the first day of the month of August 2013.... and reading about the FUP issue, made me think the System of Smartbro is really busted or with a glitch (which made my previous post).... after a week without any solution and them not sending their technicians.... I decided to apply for Globe WiMax instead since, PLDT DSL and lined internet seem to be of no avail in our location.... Good thing a Globe Agent was patient enough to give my location a try... since previously they wouldn't take my case... which I believe wrote about it too the last time...

So after being connected with Globe WiMax, the net was good... although I must say... my net was only at 1 Mbps... but it's good... But surety I will continue to monitor it... if it's really good....

Then suddenly I checked my Smartbro line, alas!!!! My cable or the wire connected to  the canopy antenna is wet in the inside... causing at the edge of the cable or the end of the cable connected to their power adaptor is short circuited or kind of burned up! don't know the technical terms so I'll just describe it as what I know it looks like... and I just remembered this happened way back years.... So I called out *1888 again telling of the situation... and still, their protocols ..... =.= ..... I hate it when they ask me to wait for 24 hours again.. but no can do... the CSR told me that my previous reports or complains wasn't closed yet, so they have to close first my previous case before they send their techs..... *AAAH!!! can't believe it after a week of no output or resolution???? .... =.=

Oh well, might as well give a try and have patience and let's see if changing my busted cables and adaptors will do the trick.... but I think it is.... as it was the same situation we had before...

So that's one reason why one's net on Smartbro Canopy might be slowed down and not always because of the FUP.... just saying.... but if my net will be still slowed down after they've changed it?

Well I think it's a bye bye Smartbro.... It's useless using a System that is not doing what it's supposed to do....

How to save files in a FAKE iPHONE 4S as of August 2013

Recently my mother was fooled buying a iPHONE 4S.... at first glanced the iPHONE 4S looks exactly as it is... but as I continued to handle and looked into it... I wondered why the camera has a low resolution.... I tried looking for settings... alas!!! there is not much settings... and as I continue to explore it the more I am resolved it was a fake iPHONE 4S....

Nevertheless the video player is quite something or perhaps the display is pretty cool on display. but still of course I wouldn't recommend such fake phone.... But if you guys also have been fooled.... here's just one tip in saving files in the fake phone... which says 64GB but actually just a 4GB capacity...

searching from the net is really tedious but perhaps sharing in this blog would better benefit others... so with regards to saving file in the phone. simply put-off the phone and then re-start it. you will be brought in an option, one to indicate to charge, while another saying "U-disk"... select that option then automatically the computer will detect the phone's memory SD or whatever... usually a fake iPHONE 4S has no manual nor a box... so surely you will need to search other's experiences and usual comments or advices from others... So here's just some shared knowledge I too received from others.

SmartBro Canopy as of August 2013

Oh, well pasensya nalang... kind of frustrated and feeling angry or in tagalog nai-inis sa serbisyo ng SmartBro this time... Reason why I want to write it down. Just my way of taking out my stress. Writing...

Well recently, of course we've already heard and know about the FUP of SmartBro Canopy which is really aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh.. (pasensya)... It just really pains that this kind of situation is probably only in the Philippines. It's so frustrating and irritating or annoying... and it's just sad that it seems there is nothing else that could be done especially if there are no other better alternatives. Although Globe broadband is a possible one, but also has their own downsides as well as for other internet service providers. It seems there is no really better alternatives. But I at least could appreciate the transparency of Globe compared to Smart, as Smart is not  definite on what or how much is their data limit capacity as of now. We're simply left off hanging...

I've been also searching and google-ing other complains and other feedbacks on Smartbro's new FUP and also with regards to their new plans and it seems all throughout history, it's all complains... I am quite patient though with SmartBro, probably because there is no option in my location... PLDT and Globe WiMax is to no avail... By the way, I'm in a purok Pongi-an of a Barangay called Loakan Proper, part of Baguio City. And our home location seem to dislike other ISPs or in other words, there are no slots available or our place can't probably reached by other ISPs or probably they're just plain lazy to go to our place. We've been connected to Smartbro for quite a long time already (not sure how long, 8? 9? 10?)... and I have been patiently always calling them like every after 2 months when our net got slow.

This time I had to call them almost every day for I think 3-4 days now, because beginning August 2-3, 2013 suddenly our net got slowed down. August 1, 2013 was great, we were able to chat with our sister abroad and the day after it got slowed down. So I called up the *1888 and after a while, checking, etc.. the speed got up... and thinking that it was ok... just after the call... it slowed down again... probably having a 0.19 - 0.20 Mbps.... I thought, it might be a glitch, but monitoring throughout the day and night, we had consistent internet but the speed was just as I have said "0.19 - 0.20 Mbps." By the way the CSR confirmed me that by August 1 or 2 (i think), they have just applied the 2Mbps for plan 999 which my subscription is under it. And yet, currently it seems there is a mistake... I said maybe it's not 2Mbps but 0.2Mbps!!!????

The day after, I called again *1888, and they said it's unusual that my net is consistent yet slowed down. And I got to believe, my speed was indeed throttled down, because of their FUP. BUT! understanding that it will be throttled down after consuming their supposed Data Cap Limit, can a day or even a week use up all those data limit? I can't remember downloading any big files recently. I did download big files but I used my globe tattoo USB for that but not the Smartbro connection. So why indeed is my net slowed down? The CSR sent mail to the support group and his supervisor as he said it will be acted upon ASAP. He asked me to follow up by the afternoon, but I wasn't able to do so. So just monitoring then and on the next day to no avail nothing new happened. It was still slow BUT consistent internet.

In the morning I tried to speedtest.net again and alas!!! I have a stable connection but now? Inconsistent speed. I had a consistent 20-25ms, inconsistent 0.12-1.79 Mbps download speed, and consistent 0.19-0.20 upload speed. Whereas from 30 tests, only one (1) 1.79 or should i say only 1 reached more than 1.5 Mbps, others were lower than 1.5Mbps.  And to probably average those tests would range from 0.3 - 0.4 Mbps. I tried restarting my computer, and alas!!! it was now consistent download speed which is ranging from 0.19 - 0.20 Mbps.... Which made me to decide to contact *1888 again...

So same as last time, all is well but it is unusual that I have such a weird measure or meter of my speed test. And when the CSR was to tell me he will be sending a follow up letter or mail to the support group to deal with it and ask for further info on what action was taken, then!!!! I was CUT OFF!!!! well, it's probably my low tech phone! ARGH!!!! I wasn't sure what to do so I called again, of course a different CSR, now a lady, took the call, after waiting for almost 15 minutes... took my info and said that can she just turn me over for the next shift? Huh!??? OK! of course being polite, she's a lady!! ... then after waiting for another 15-20 minutes (i think)... another lady comes in... and then had to check my line again.... after looooong checking, she would again send another mail to the support group for monitoring and to check my connection again... AAAAHHH!!!! AGAIN????? Well, here's my patience seem to be dropped off.... or say my blood pressure really rose up! Well not that I shouted at the lady or something... I just felt the stress and rush in my head... and I was just hoping... I wouldn't have to wait again and call them again after 24 hours.... GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!......

Hay... patience... patience.... In the Philippines, we need a lot of patience.... Hay bottom line... I just wanted to know why I'm receiving such a stable connection but slow speed? ??? which they really have no answer... and it's really frustrating and no amount of "Sorry for the inconvenience!" would seem to appease.

SO??? I don't know.... conclusion? I'm not really sure... just a guess that as what I've been reading all through the net that Smartbro will lose subscribers with such a system they have.... especially being not transparent about what is really happening or what is the real problem, and not being able to really perform what service they proclaim they could do. This would really turn off people for that matter. Well those that have long patience and probably really have no choice about their circumstance may be the only ones who would stick to their program or service... I, as of now really have no idea still what will be my decision, if only globe wimax could reach us, well I'll probably stick to them... Although I must say, their reputation for a stable connection is still in question with regards to our location.... so now just a big question....

And oh yeah, got a feeling the new system of Smartbro is really computerized but most likely have a glitch on it... or I mean, their FUP being incorporated on their system may have a glitch.... as truly, it is inconsistent, as it's possible that the programs users use (skype, P2P apps, downloaders, etc...) or even routers perhaps, may have an effect on how their system deals on each subscribers.... hehe! just a curious and imaginative theory I have.... but seriously... this isn't gon'na really help smartbro or their new promos... or whatsoever.... oh well, that's just something I want to bring out.... now I feel better... But perhaps tomorrow might be another story....

How to fix Canon Pixma MP287 Printer when no power on

Greetings!

Recently I had a problem switching "on" my printer just after a power outage or power shortage... I was currently printing something when the power got low... My printer was still on and printing since it was connected to the laptop and it seems the little power was able to still providing the current for my printer to finish the printing!... After finishing it, my printer died out and I forgot to unplug my printer.... when the lights came back or the power came back... Alas! my printer won't switch on or power on!

I've googled some ways how to remedy the problem and came to a site.... discussing the same problem... though it didn't gave much detail of the solution but all through out the comments and sharing, I got the idea of disassembling the printer... but problem is, I am not that techy.... one of the things I've read was to detach a white thing from the "power supply" (i think), where the power cord was attached and re-plug it! And so having means to detach and attach the connected port or white "thing" back to the "power supply", Alas I was able to switch it on again!

So, that's just one experience of mine... maybe someone else would experience and need some little detail about it.... =D

Globe Wimax or DSL in Loakan Baguio City

Well, it seems there is a limit to this Product or Service of Globe. Whether WiMAX or DSL of Globe Broadband... Which is so disappointing... hay... wala na atang magandang providers for internet... haysh.... Their services are only available for particular areas... parang useless pala pag-u-upgrade nila. They can't cover all areas..... Oh well... wala naman akong magawa... We're just a minority as always..... Just so disappointing... Smartbro as usual is also disappointing since, it is not very consistent or even stable in our area....

weh? it is so weird though, as I went to the Globe Center before, they said pwede and then calling up their agent, di pwede... ahuh????

hayyy... bahala na... hmph!

But anyway... sa Loakan, across the airport... I've already known two guys who applied for the Globe WiMAX since wala pa talaga DSL on the other side of the Airport... and ok naman feedback nila.... kaya ang gulo.. hay...parang kelangan pa bang maglipat ng bahay? lol! weeeeeeh?????

Banco De ORO (BDO) and Paypal 2013

Was just trying to see if my new debit Card can still be able to be linked with paypal... It seems it can no longer be as many have already said and stated that BDO no longer is connected with Paypal. And BDO Debit Card seem to be unusable for any online transactions...

So therefore, I might be trying to apply for other debit / credit card.... I might try BPI ...
Just want to share as of March 2013... unless BDO change or make some changes on their features...
